Every year we partner with AmeriCorps programs in supporting a cohort of Service Fellows who are ready to improve the outcomes for our Stockton communities. We contribute to the Service Fellow experience through our quarterly programs – Leadership Development Days and Service Days – where they get the opportunities to engage with fellows from other programs and outside their service project site. For cohort 2021-22, we engaged over 25 Service Fellows in our Leadership Development Days where they gained a deep understanding of Stockton, combined with some identity exploration. Topics include: Power of Context, Power of Understanding Self, Power of Community, and Power of People. We also engaged over 65 Service Fellows during our quarterly Service Day in supporting local agencies. For instance, we supported the Stockton Emergency Food Bank during their annual Turkey Box Giveaway where we distributed over 2,400 turkey boxes to residents in San Joaquin County. We also supported the Stockton Shelter For The Homeless in cleaning, sanitizing, painting, landscaping, and laying bark on the playground.
We also provide support to our partners ensuring we build core capacities for them to tackle the issues in our communities. Since our inception, we seek funding to support our coalition efforts where we have sub-granted over $500,000 in unrestricted funds to our partners allowing them to allocate the funds appropriately to meet their programmatic needs.
